What We Can Do on Weekends

As we know, weekend is the most awaited moment in a week. Yet for some people (especially the workaholics or single), weekend is the most dull moment in a week. It is not because they are not happy of having free time to enjoy, but mostly because they have no idea how to spend the days. Most people spend their weekend with partying, hanging out with relatives, shopping, or travelling. But what if we don't do party, have no friends to hang out with, have insufficient money to shop and travel?
Weekend will be... how to say? hmm... awkward. Since it seems like all people are very excited to it and we don't.
So, now I want to share some uselessful activities if we are in situation like this.

#1. HIBERNATE

It is good to hibernate, sometimes. I don't mean like polar bears and some animals that hide in their cave and sleep all day long. But just to have longer sleep than usual. Maybe some people think that it is procrastinating, but rest is an important thing to do after working and being busy in five days. When we are tired, it is harder to sleep because usually our body is stiff and our mind is stressful of daily activity. Weekend is a golden opportunity to sleep well and have full rest. The National Sleep Foundation suggest seven to nine hours of sleep for adults. Taking nap is also a healthy activity instead of procrastinating. I have found some books that explain about the good effect of taking nap. It is said that taking nap is useful to increase stamina and productivity. It is also good to relief stress and reduce the stiffness of body.
So, when it's weekend and you don't have any good plan to do. Prepare an oversize T-shirt, hot pant, and a glass of hot chocolate... Hide under your favorite blanket.. and start to hibernate.

NB: Don't sleep MORE than 9 hours since it is dangerous for your health. Also try to nap around twenty minutes to an hour. More than that, you will enter to deeper stage of sleep, It will be harder for you to get up and will make you become a sleepy head all day long.

#2. TIDY UP

Being busy for five days, leaving home uninhabited on day, come back on night just to sleep, and back again to work may cause to disastrous scene of our home. It should be dusty and dirty. You may find stack of unironed clothes, unwashed dishes, empty fridge, and dying pets waiting to be fed.
Weekend is a perfect time to manage the chaos.
So, if you are not having party in Friday night, you can have a long good sleep to restore your energy and start to wear an apron in the morning. The day is full of activities to do. Start from shopping in the market to fill the fridge, mop the floor, tidy up the bedroom, wash the dishes, bathing your pets, and cook proper food for yourself. In the end of the day, you will find your house shining and looks as if it is the first time you move to the house.

#3. WATCHING DVDS

Yup! Watching DVD is the most procrastinating  pleasing activity. You can do a vengeance to the busy days that made you unable to visit the cinema. Hunt some blockbuster movies or old movies in DVD store or rental station and take them home. Don't forget to step in a mini market and buy some snacks or popcorn. After all are ready, take your coziest position on a couch and be a potato couch for a day.

#4. SPOIL YOURSELF

Make a visit to Watson after work and buy some face mask, scrubs, hair cream, and any other things for beautify yourself. Go home and make this weekend as a long day of self treatment. You can apply a beautiful nail polish and take hours without worry to be called by boss.
After all treatments are finished, you will see the brighter you in front of the mirror. While your friends are burnt due to the sun bathing or looks weary after doing some activities in weekend, you are fresher, brighter, and looks more manicured.

Those are some advice that I can share about facing weekend without being awkward. We still have many things to do. Sure we can't brag about where to go or what we did on weekend, but we can enjoy the effects of doing those (unimportant) activities.

Enjoy your weekend, folks!

Passion in Working

Yup! I come back again after months haven't written any for this blog.

Hello :)

Actually, I am just bored and know nothing to do. So, I started to browse and remember that I have a blog.... Nightingale. It never 'sang' again. I don't know what to write. Perhaps, I will just fill this blog with stories about my daily.

OK.... Let me share my daily life...

I just quited from my job as English teacher in GKY education center and tried to be an ordinary office staff. I currently start to work as an assistant of marketing manager. I am responsible to do overseas correspondence and help the marketing manager. This is my third day of work and I haven't done anything for this company. I am extremely bored.
Due to my boredom these days. I start to think about my real passion and what I really like to do. Currently, I just put a target to earn much money without considering what work I like best.
Actually, I love teaching. I also like to read. Besides that, I am not interested in work that is money oriented. I begin to think, maybe the area that will suit for me is education and media since I am not interested in company that is money oriented. Sure, almost all companies are money oriented. That is one of main reasons of why a company stands. But, you know... I am not interested in selling things.
huff... I thought after graduated, I will be more focus in working and earning money. But..... I just know that I also need passion to enjoy working and further to feel comfortable in sitting inside my cabinet every day.

What is Report??

Report, according to me, is a note that contains the summary of a project. Report is usually used for analyzing the performance of the project and as a comparison between the plan and the result. Report is always done when the project has been done and usually it will be communicated to other people (it can be both internal side and external side). The report that is communicated to the internal side will contain different format and message, if it is compared with report done for the external side since the aim of each report is different. Report for the internal side is usually more transparant. I don't say that report that is done for external side is not frank or be manipulated. What I mean is the report for the internal side is usually to find what is the problem in the project in order to fix the problem while the report for the external side normally functions as a messenger to inform business partner about the project or apply a proposal. That is my opinion about the definition of report.
According to business dictionary.com, report means a document containing information organized in a narrative, graphic, or tabular form, prepared on ad hoc, periodic, recurring, regular, or as required basis. Reports may refer to specific periods, events, occurrences, or subjects, and may be communicated or presented in oral or written form.
Some forms of business report are accounting, finance, management, marketing and commerce. Unilearning stated that:
Often the type of assignment set is a practical learning task requiring you to apply the theories you have been studying to real world (or realistic) situations; for example, accounting and finance students may be asked to analyse a company’s financial data and to write a report detailing their findings, marketing students may be asked to research and develop a marketing campaign for a product and to write a report presenting the proposal to the company, management students may be asked to report on the management structure of a company and make recommendations for its improvement. Learning how to report on financial information, marketing and management strategies and issues to others is an important component of business studies.
Esl summarized some important points to remember in conducting a report.

Important Points to Remember

  • A report is divided into four areas:
    • Terms of Reference- This section gives background information on the reason for the report. It usually includes the person requesting the report.
    • Procedure- The procedure provides the exact steps taken and methods used for the report.
    • Findings- The findings point out discoveries made during the course of the report investigation.
    • Conclusions- The conclusions provide logical conclusions based on the findings.
    • Recommendations- The recommendations state actions that the writer of the report feels need to be taken based on the findings and conclusions.
  • Reports should be concise and factual. Opinions are given in the "conclusions" section. However, these opinions should be based on facts presented in the "findings".
  • Use simple tenses (usually the present simple) to express facts.
  • Use the imperative form (Discuss the possibility ..., Give priority ..., etc.) in the "recommendations" section as these apply to the company as a whole.
Report is a crucial thing in business. With well conducted report, certain message can be delivered to focused target and fulfill the goal of the message. Hope this 'bit' information can add your knowledge about report. :)

The Closet

Last friday, my lecturer told the class to write a poem about pluralism. The shocking thing was that we should make the poem directly in the last 20 minutes before the class was over. I like to read poetry but I can't write a good poem.... :(
In the end, I succeded to make a (silly) poem. Even it was quite odd, but I like the poem. And I was proud of it (just like every mother who proud of her child even the child is imperfect :p)
So.. This is my expression and opinion about pluralism. Please leave a comment whether you like it or not and why. Suggestion and question are hightly admissible :)

Why It Must Be Nightingale....

Before I start to explain why nightingale became the name of this blog, perhaps I should explain what nightingale is. Nightingale is a name of a bird that frequently singing at night. It is a tiny bird which is smaller than robbin.
So, the reason because I named this blog as Nightingale is............................................................
I should be honest... I didn't know why my blog should be named nightingale. @.@
Actually, at first, I just randomly picked a name from my head. I just like the sound.. nightingale.. it sounds romantic, isn't it?
I always have an unexplained feeling when I hear the word since I read a short story written by Oscar Wilde (one of my favorite writer :), P.S: for me, he is a truly aesthetician). It made me remember about the story and the ironic sacrifice done by it.
That short story tells about a sacrifice done by a nightingale to save the love of a young student because it was touched by the depth of his love. But in the end, when the bird already sacrificed its life, the love of the young student was rejected and he gave up his love easily. This is an ironical story. When the bird was touched by the love of the young student and found the passion of love: sacrifice, the young student as the source of the passion found by the bird easily gave up his love. The sacrifice of the bird was useless. but in fact, no sacrifice is useless in love because the bird did it because it felt in love with the love of the young student. Sacrifice has no aim. It is just done because you love someone. The story is very touching for me. So, whenever I see the word, I always remember about this story and the sacrifice of the nightingale.
(For those who interested in this story, you may click and read this http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Nightingale_and_the_Rose)).

Ok, back to the topic. I was confused whether I should change the name or just stay with this name. So, I searched the symbol of nightingale in google. Then, I found some interesting meaning about nightingale. Nightingale symbolizes love and longing.
The Nightingale with its beautiful night song, is the bird of love, for as long as it sings, the dark night shelters secret lovers from the eyes of those who may part them. (http://www.squidoo.com/divine-birds#module26643442)
After that, I got an interesting essay that completed by image of nightingale. It was written by Percy Bysshe Shelley. He wrote that "A poet is a nightingale who sits in darkness and sings to cheer its own solitude with sweet sounds; his auditors are as men entranced by the melody of an unseen musician, who feel that they are moved and softened, yet know not whence or why".
This sentence moved me and I decided not to change the name of this blog. I let it still be a nightingale with a simple hope that my blog can voice the unheard voice, even it is just an ordinary blog yet I hope other people moved by my writing like I am moved by other's writing too. Amen :)

My First Blog!!!

Finally, I have a blog!
At first, I didn't put any interest in composing a blog. I like writing, actually... but I am not brave enough like to publish it :p
But on one 'weary' day, my lecturer shot me with a rethorical question. "How can you sell yourself if you don't start blogging?"
He started to talk about the importance of writing in blog, communicate with different layers in society through blog, contributing in information era, and many else. He poured a pail of cold water to my face (he called it 'slapping through words').
So, that is the history of this blog.
P.S: I still don't know what I will write in this blog. Inspiration, quickly come to mama :)
