Why It Must Be Nightingale....

Before I start to explain why nightingale became the name of this blog, perhaps I should explain what nightingale is. Nightingale is a name of a bird that frequently singing at night. It is a tiny bird which is smaller than robbin.
So, the reason because I named this blog as Nightingale is............................................................
I should be honest... I didn't know why my blog should be named nightingale. @.@
Actually, at first, I just randomly picked a name from my head. I just like the sound.. nightingale.. it sounds romantic, isn't it?
I always have an unexplained feeling when I hear the word since I read a short story written by Oscar Wilde (one of my favorite writer :), P.S: for me, he is a truly aesthetician). It made me remember about the story and the ironic sacrifice done by it.
That short story tells about a sacrifice done by a nightingale to save the love of a young student because it was touched by the depth of his love. But in the end, when the bird already sacrificed its life, the love of the young student was rejected and he gave up his love easily. This is an ironical story. When the bird was touched by the love of the young student and found the passion of love: sacrifice, the young student as the source of the passion found by the bird easily gave up his love. The sacrifice of the bird was useless. but in fact, no sacrifice is useless in love because the bird did it because it felt in love with the love of the young student. Sacrifice has no aim. It is just done because you love someone. The story is very touching for me. So, whenever I see the word, I always remember about this story and the sacrifice of the nightingale.
(For those who interested in this story, you may click and read this http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Nightingale_and_the_Rose)).

Ok, back to the topic. I was confused whether I should change the name or just stay with this name. So, I searched the symbol of nightingale in google. Then, I found some interesting meaning about nightingale. Nightingale symbolizes love and longing.
The Nightingale with its beautiful night song, is the bird of love, for as long as it sings, the dark night shelters secret lovers from the eyes of those who may part them. (http://www.squidoo.com/divine-birds#module26643442)
After that, I got an interesting essay that completed by image of nightingale. It was written by Percy Bysshe Shelley. He wrote that "A poet is a nightingale who sits in darkness and sings to cheer its own solitude with sweet sounds; his auditors are as men entranced by the melody of an unseen musician, who feel that they are moved and softened, yet know not whence or why".
This sentence moved me and I decided not to change the name of this blog. I let it still be a nightingale with a simple hope that my blog can voice the unheard voice, even it is just an ordinary blog yet I hope other people moved by my writing like I am moved by other's writing too. Amen :)
